Since I don't know where this post is suppose to go, I'll be posting it under Operating Sytems too.

Anyway, I just bought/ordered a new computer from Circuit City. For the price, I'm sure it is a good deal, couldn't afford anything else. Got an eMachine Pentium 4 Processor 519 operates at 3.06GHz, 1MB L2 cache & 533MHz FSB with 512MB dual channel DDR 333 expandable to 4GB memory, 160GB HD serial ATA 7200 RPM, 8MB cache, DVD+/-RW, 16x Multi-Format double layer, CD-ROM drive-48x max write and more... BUT here's my question and concern:

My present computer has a CD-RW drive where I save all my pictures on. I didn't think of this before, but will I be able to use my CD-RW's in the new DVD+/-RW drive to retrieve all my info/pics from???

I just never thought of it before... but now I'm realizing there are only 2 drives in this new computer... the DVD+/-RW and the CD-ROM drive and no CD-RW drive. Now I'm worried.

I might have to buy another CD-RW drive.

My old computer is going to my son, so I won't have the CD-RW drive anymore.

I should have come to this board BEFORE I made my decision on a computer. The price was so good. After rebates, it will only cost me about $569 and the package includes a printer and monitor.

Thanks for your help, ~Claire

You'll be able to burn CD's and more with the new setup. Enjoy it! :)

will I be able to use the CD-RWs that I have pictures on now in the new DVD drive??? Will they be compatible I guess is the better question.

I'm just a worry wart!

And, I have another question maybe you can give a quick answer to. Does a DVD+/-RW (assume this is also called a burner) work like a regular CD-ROM drive because someone asked me that ... she wants to buy a DVD burner for her computer and wanted to know if it can be used like a CD-ROM drive also.
Thanks,
~Claire
