Email hunt

Hi guys.

I want to retrieve Outlook Express emails from my slave hard drive. (Used to be my main drive). I can no longer get it to work as my main drive. Is it possible to get to my emails, in the same was I can get to my files?

Outlook Express keeps all its data in dbx files - inbox.dbx, sent items.dbx, etc.

Somewhere on the slave drive is a folder containing those dbx files. Where that folder is depends on what operating system is installed. If XP, they're found in C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{31391EF3-B3AC-4F12-94D8-DC2DA45E9526}\Microsoft\Outlook Express (where User Name is the name of the account; the long alphanumeric folder name will vary).

Once you locate the dbx files, open OE, go to File>Import>Messages, choose the version of OE you were using on the slave drive, click Next, choose "Import mail from an OE6 store folder," click OK, use the Browse button to navigate to the folder with the dbx files on the slave drive and finish stepping through the Import wizard.
