Help - I lost sound

A few weeks ago I tried installing a new web cam. It is a Creative Cam Instant. My operating system is ME. I had hours of fun trying to get it to work and finally went back to my old intel cam. After all of this however, my sound doesn't work. The computer doesn't seem to recognize that my Crystal WDM Audio Codec is available for selection for sound, although if i go to My Computer - Properties - Device Manager, it's there, has the most updated driver, and says it is working fine.

Have you tried going into device manager and removing the sound card and restart and let Windows reinstall your sound card.

Have you tried running SFC (System File Checker).

Also make sure it's not muted out.

Sorry about that stareenite, I see there is no System File Checker for Windows ME.

If this is a on-board sound device make sure it's enabled in the bios. Also try a system restore to an earlier date when things worked well.
