Yes, I need a little help installing Windows ME. So if someone could give me the steps to installing it. It would help me a lot cause I've been trying to do it for a while now. Now I have already formated my computer and I have both the Cd rom and the boot disk installed in the computer I just need to know what to do after I get it to install from Cd-Rom support cause I always end up at the A: and I don't know what to do cause I have tried C:/setup.exe but nothing happens and then I tried A:/setup and again nothing happens. Now I am runnig out of things to do.
Thanks.

ughh.. format was a bad idea. if your trying to install ME from a recovery disk, and you formatted from command prompt, your going to have a heck of a time. Its doable though. Your cd-rom will not, however, be drive C or A. If it is you have a cable loose or in backwards. Try D:\setup or E:\setup and let us know if that works. If not I can walk you through making a bootable floppy from your recovery disks

I'm not trying to to install ME from a recovery disk, I am trying to install from the Windows ME Cd-rom and boot disk. and I have installed it before using C:/setup before but for some reason it isn't working. So I don't know what to do.

shewwww.. good deal then. Boot comp to BIOS and make sure it is set to boot from cd-rom before the hard drive. save and exit... put install cd in and reboot, when it asks "Press any key to boot from cd" do ... follow instructions and thats it :)

I did do that already and it says the same thing. Should I just try to format my computer again?

I don't know how to do that. My computer is a Hewitt Packard bell and everytime that I restart my computer it just says invalid put disk in and press any key. SO I don't know what to do.

tis ok... no problem. When your computer first starts up, it should show at the very top or very bottom a message like "Press F2 to enter setup" (this will come right before it says "invalid system disk".. now.. what ever it tells you to press to enter setup you need to press... more than likely its F2 or <esc> or <del>. It will then go into BIOS (setup) and at the top of window should be tabs.. use the arrow keys to change tabs and find "Boot Order" again using arrow keys to navigate to that setting, then you will highlight or select "boot order" and either press enter or use the + and - keys to change its current setting (it will say out to the side how to do this) after you get that set correctly then you wont have any more problems

of course... I say that. The reason you shouldnt format from a command prompt is because Windows will take care of all the formatting and partitioning thats need be. Alot of manufactures now days will write part of the bios (there signature to be exact) to the hard drive. So if you format it from command prompt then you loose there signature and it looks for that very first thing. When it dont find it, then it stops everything. Like loading cd-rom drivers.. etc..etc. So anyway, just something to remember there.
