This just happened to me yesterday. The last couple of days my computer was disconnecting from AOL on a regular basis. It would lock up as well just when I would minimize a page or open one. Every time I rebooted it would go in safe mode over and over again. I finally was able to get system restore to correct it. But it happened again yesterday, went into safe mode and eventually the monitor went black. I took it to work and our IS people will look at it tomorrow. I tested the Monitor at work and it's working fine on another computer. My IS people think it could be the Motherboard but won't know for sure until tomorrow when they can take a look at it. I will post back once I find out what is causing this problem. I have a Dell Dimension 4100.

any lights at all, no matter how short, on the keyboard, on your drives and such? Did you have any error messages prior to the problem? any beeps?

you need to start your own thread. This could get confusing and damage could be done if the wrong solution is tried.

No lights on my keyboard. My computer power lite is on and I hear clicking when it comes on and off. Fan seems to be working fine. I opened it up to see if there was some dust and it's pretty clean.

Thanks that's a good idea.

Moderator, could you please move APR207's issue to a new thread?

My problems were corrected today. My video card needed to be reseated. Monitor is back on and I'm out of safe mode and I'm up and running. I will dump Windows ME and go to XP since I have the upgrade at home. Sorry for putting my post in this thread.
