I have no idea where to post this request for help. Over the last several months several different things have happened. First... heard the printer printing and assumed a different family member sent something to our networked printer but no one had sent it and it was jibberish.

second... recently when I "ordered" a print my computer would shut off!!!

third... it stopped shutting off but would sent the print info to the printer about 10 times before it would start printing the page

fourth... today the printer started printing all on its own... no one was on any of our computers (have three networked within the house) and printed about 10 pages with anywhere from one character to two lines of jibberish before I shut the printer off

any ideas what I'm dealing with?? I ran spybot, adware and virus scan nothing major showed up

First, download Hijack This (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html)

Then follow these instructions by Tjolly in your last post in October.

Create a new folder on your hdd and name it HJT.

To do this go into My Computer and double click on your hdd then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.

Unzip HJT into the new folder. Launch HJT, click Scan, and click Save Log. Post the log in the cyber safety forum where the hjt experts hang out but don’t make any changes.

Most likely you have a problem with the printer drivers. So a few questions for you.
1. When did this start?
2. Did you install or uninstall Anything prior to the problem starting?
3. what kind of computer do you have?
4. What kind of Printer is it?

If this hooked up on a network then give some details as to how you have it hooked up.

While working on Dodge's questions, unhook the printer and run the self test (surely it has one). This may show just the printer has probs. My printer's self test always tells me when the "Absolutely Bogus Print Driver" magically appears.
I can get this info from printer properties also.
Don't ask. It's a long standing Canon laser LBP460 problem.
Hook printer back up and change support from networked to local and do some printing straight from the host computer. These seem the most obvious simple things to try first. I always go simple to hard and not other way for after all, I am but a simple man.;) (simple minded??? Hey, I didn't say that.):dizzy:

Have a friend that had a similar problem, especially the jibberish part. Problem stemmed from some sort of buffer overload and we were unable to clear it. Only way we found to solve the problem was to disconnect the printer from the pc, uninstall the printer software and reboot, then reinstall the software and reconnect the printer (USB). All was then well, as stated earlier, simple is always best.

Did you ever get this working again? if you didn't, try deleting ther driver, rebooting, turn off any antivirus protection, reinstalling the latest and greatest driver, turn on anti virus, reboot, test...
