scanreg question

hello, I need to edit my registry because my norton AV wont run properly and they automated support led me to the fact that I am still running in audit mode and that the reg needs to be edited before I can continue.. and I need to run a back up before i edit the reg...but when I run scanreg a window FLASHES across the screen and is gone...the direction I recieved told me that the window will come up and I am to select yes when prompted to back up my reg...then when I reciev a message that the back up is complete I click OK.....but that window just flashes and wont stay open.....whats wrong?.. thanks...bob

What command are you using?

Using scanreg it should run a scan then ask if you want to backup.
scanreg /backup will silently backup the registry.
scanreg /restore will prompt for a restore file

I typed scanreg in the run promt.....and hit OK.....it just flashes on the screen....I later did a search for the scanreg and in windows I double clicked the scanreg .exe and the same thing happens.....it just flashes for a 1/10th of a second......like you mentioned I should be promted to select back up..yes

I would use the scanreg /backup command and then continue with the instructions
