Question Play HD video on TV

HELLO. I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but..............how do I watch films/videos that I have on the computers HD via my TV .Do I have to have a separate graphics card [rather than the 'onboard' type that is on my pc] I tried with a previous card that I had and an S-video lead to the scart in the TV with no joy . The card was used [tho not worn out, I don't think] so I couldn't be certain it was OK, although the computer didn't say anything and I was running the monitor thro' it OK . TIA

You need to set to things, one thing in Control Panel and one thing on your TV.
First thing is to connect the S-Video wire up from the video card to the TV.

On the computer
Control Panel
Display
Settings(tab)
Advanced(button)
from here things are different for different video cards but there is going to be a tab
named Adapter. On nVIDIA stuff there is an nVIDIA(tab) and the Adapter(tab)
is in there. On other video cards the Adapter(tab) is under a button named
Advanced. Where ever it is you'll see an option to select TV.
Before you select TV you have to put your TV on Video first
and on some older TVs you have to put it on channel 2 or 3 as well.

Once the TV is set first then you go to the computer and select TV as the output
device and click Apply or OK.

pc to tv

Thanks, Spider. I've actually removed the graphics card so I can't use the S-video lead. Is there no way of doing something similar with the 'on board' stuff? Maybe I'll stick it back in and try it . Thanks

To go to TV you need a video converter (vga converter). Any video card that has "TV out" (like the one you had)
has a vga converter chip on the card. So in your situation (without a card) you need a straight vga converter.
Either way you have to spend some money.

Example:
VGA Converter $85.32
Radio Shack VGA Converter $94.99
