Hi,
I have a suggestion for the NETWORKING forum, how about splitting it into WIRED and WIRELESS?

No point, IMO.
Wireless is 90% the same as wired, just no physical wires (and new things like ad-hoc and WEP).
Most things pertaining to wireless routers are true with standard routers, same with wireless/standard NIC's, etc, it usually follows the same path.
Just my two cents. :)

I voted YES because having 2 sub bases under NETWORKING would allow people to post more directly in thier category (Wireless,Wired) And if it doesnt fit those 2,they can just post on the Main Networking Base....

I have to go along with hypnotize...
The networking forum is not that active and most of the problems are common between wired and wireless. If you split them, I think most common problems would get posted in either the wired or wireless forum depending on them type of network the person with the problem is running.

most have a combination wireless/wire network so it could cause some confustion as to where to post.

As I, and many others don't have wireless, I have [selfishly] voted YES to save us having to trawl thro lots of irrelevant posts??? ;)

I have 4 wireless and 3 wired network computers in my home. If every system is experiencing the same set of problems because of an overall network related issue, which forum would I post in? Too confusing, not necessary...
Looks like we disagree again, uripyores. ;)

Nope, I'm one of those people that has a bunch of fairly nice, mildly impressive computers and related hardware, and everything else I own is junk. Aside from a reasonably nice PC, laptop, and PDA, my house looks like dumping grounds for anyone and everyone who ever decided to throw equipment away. :D

I always roll my eyes and stare at the ceiling when I am at work trying to help someone over the phone (work on the one computer that they have) when I hear them say "There are so many wires under here", they should come see my basement...
Four computers, recording studio, amplifier and distribution system for cable TV, network cables for the LAN, phone wiring, and the electrical wires snaking through the rafters.
