Hello all,

HELP!!

I just restored Win ME after having issues and everything seems to work fine except that I get an error after all the applications load. The error reads : "Error Loading C:\Windows\System\STLBDIST.DLL. The system cannot find the file specified". Please let me know if anybody has come accross this.

thanks.

nytech,

Don't worry that it is not loading, you don't want it to load, its a nasty!! I recommend that you run highjack this and post its report to the cybersecurity forum.

Fo rinfo on using HJT, see this post http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37546

Sorry, if I wasn't clear. The error isn't what's nasty, its the dll that is 'nasty'. The dll is actually spyware (see here for more info, http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/BrowserAid.html)

If you were infected with this you may have other things lurking on your system. My guess you have a RUN entry in your registry trying to startup STLBDIST.DLL . highjack this will show this and also any other issues you may have. The people in the cybersecurity forum should be able to tell you how to clean it all up correctly so you don't cause any system problems.

Thank you for all your help.

I manage to get rid of that error.I just went in the registry and removed all the references for STLBDIST.dll. I also did a full virus scan of the system and it seems that everything is working fine now. I will however, run Hijack as well just to make sure.

thanks.
