This is running on my system. I did a google search and found that it is a recent update but I'm not sure what to do with it. Thanks

I would like to see that file please loveangels. Copy it to a new folder, zip it up (this is important) and email it to me at anniefriday@xtra.co.nz. I'll post back when I have checked it out.

Sorry Ann Marie, I am a newbie and don't really know how to do what you said to, I did a search for the file and it had 2 icons. One did nothing when I clicked it, The other listed as Q891711.dll came up with a caution stating I was trying to open a file of type"Aplication Extension"(dll). and opening it could damage the system. How would I copy it and zip it?? Thanks for your help.

Just Q891711.dll, no Q891711.exe as well? Did you make sure that you could view hidden files and folders etc?
To copy the file, rightclick on it and choose Copy. Create a new folder by righclicking on your Desktop and choose New > Folder. Open the new folder and righclick inside it and choose Paste. Do you have a zipping utility on your PC, eg WinZip?.

You don't open it. ME has a zip program, so you just right click on it and "send to>compressed folder". Then you can rename it if you like, such as "For AnnMarie", and attach it to an e-mail.

Thanks JoJo, I forgot that WinME has it's own compression utility.

AnnMarie--I sent it out to you but I don't know if there is anything in it. I could not open it. Sorry for being such a pest with this. No there is no kb891711.exe just 1 with dll and 1 with nothing after it. Thanks so much all for being patient with me. OK-another stupid question--how do I view hidden files??

You're welcome, AnnMarie.
"loveangels", not everything is meant to be opened, and there's a reason that AnnMarie wants to examine the file, hint hint.

Thanks loveangels, I received the file and you sent me the correct file (Kb891711.exe). :)
It is a genuine Microsoft file however indications are that it should not be running at startup. Having said that, if it is not causing any problems, leave it for now until the situation is clarified by Microsoft.

Thanks AnnMarie, I really appreciate your patience with me. I will keep it running in startup until I hear further.
