Im having trouble installing a piece of Software on my pc running Windows ME. The software is Olympus Master for Digital Cameras. I previously had this software running on my pc successfully but had to remove it, when i removed a partition on my HDD using Partition Magic 7.

Once i had removed the partition, i tried reinstalling it and recieved the error "Error 1325: Template Data is not a valid short file name". And now im at a loss of how to get it back on my system.

I have tried reinstalling Windows ME in case some system files had gone missing when i removed the partition but this hasnt helped either, i still receive the above error.

I know the software works as i have installed it recently on my work pc to check that the software was 100%, but i really would like to get it back on my home pc as this is where i would mostly use it.

Does anyone have any ideas of what i need to do?

Although your problem is not Office releated try this fix
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=328162

Point it towards the installer for your software.

I tried installing the "Windows Installer Clean Up Installation" and received the following error:

"Error creating process <msiexec.exe /i mscicuu.msi> Reason: A device attached to the system is not functioning".

i also receive the error when installing clean up : Error Starting Program: "The MSIEXEC.EXE file is linked to missing export MSI.DLL:222".

Should i try and remove OFFICE XP (which im running) and try reinstalling it?

Ill wait for your reply before i go any further.

Thanks.

You could try that or the Detect and Repair feature.
