I've been thinking about purchasing a new laptop and I would like to get one with a 64bit processor on it.
I really like the AMD 64 bit line of products, but what does Intel/Pentium have to offer?
I have found the Xeon and the Itanium, but both looked like server processors and not likely to be found on a laptop.
I also found the Intel Prescott, which I have never heard of. How do these compare to other processors on the market? What would you suggest for a mobile processor?

Definitely the AMD 64 models for 64-bit processing.

Unless you play alot of games or do alot of graphic work you really do not need the current 64bit processor line.
Before suggesting a processor, what will the main purpose of the laptop be?

AMD64s in respect of cost/power are IMO a far better option than Intels current offerings.

I remember my teacher always speaking against Intel and Microsoft

I second that. AMD in general are better products, if you ask me. On top of better performance whilst running at a lower frequency, useful support resources via their website, more upgradability, and not to mention the fact that after buying one, you'll still have money left over to buy a round of drinks for your buddies. ;)

I read in a magazine that prescotts heat up way more than the AMD64s damn intel, more Ghz more heat more price
Overall Intel = Less performance than AMD
