:donatello Hey i'm Julien, I was wondering if i could boot windows xp off a memory card (on a desktop with a card reader). Could you tell me how to do that and what I need to do it with. I also have another question: how can i force a windows xp installation on an older pc that doesn't meet the minimum requirements like a pentium I or something like that...I heard something about pressing f5 or another "f" key durring the installation and specifying the motherboard/processor...but I'm not sure...any help would be much appreciated

Don't know about booting from a card reader, I suppose if you have the ability to set it in your BIOS as a boot device it would work... I gave my reader away so I don't have one to play with to test it....

As for XP on a PI...

What's the point? Even seriously OC'd a PI is not going to handle XP regardless of how much Ram you throw in there. It will be far more headaches than it's worth.... Try Win2K or NT.

you can if your bios supports it.

If the BIOS supports booting from "other devices" then you can indeed boot off a card reader, but the trouble with what you want to do is you can't put Windows XP on a smart card. Space being an issue as well as copyright this wouldn't be a good thing to do. The best best if you want to boot from a card reader would be to load a smart card with Bart PE or a linux distro made to boot from USB key's or live cd's.

dood...i can get like a 3 or 4 gig card so i think that it would work where size is an issue but do you have any idea how to install windows to the card..i've never tried to install windows xp on a pc with a card reader before but im asuming that i can tell it the drive letter just like with a hard drive..
