It should be legal in the UK also, but a new name perhaps should be made as "marriage" is a mainstream religion institution.

As most main stream religions despise gay and lesbian relationships "marriage" wouldn't make sense.

However the non-religious benefits of marriage be they spiritual, or taxable ( :o ), should be within reach of all despite their sexual preference IMO.

NO! No, no, no, no...

No.

I'm not going to say anything more, because I'm sure a few of you know that I will get myself in trouble. However, I did find an article that describes exactly how I feel about this better than I can put into words, myself.

As I'm not gay myself I really don't care, but isn't it time we got past that issue? I mean for pete sake no matter how many people are against being gay, living gay, or the marriage of gay people they are still going to be gay. People have been gay since...well since people could be gay hehe. There are far more important things going on in the world for us to worry about if Bob can marry Bob. This is of course just IMO so I don't expect everyone to agree with me. That is what America so cool, we don't have to agree to live together in peace.

Agree with what you say bAdWaYz . I'm all for live and let live but marriage just seems too weird , I mean men and women hardly bother these days do they? It seems like the more people are legislated for the more they demand. In my country (UK) the day after lobbyists successfully managed to get the age limit reduced to 16 [for gays] they were back trying to get it even lower. It makes me wonder cos to be an MP [equivalent to a senator in USA] you have to be over 21 [I think] and the majority of our MPs who were voting to lower the age were probably over 40. So why were they so keen to get the age lowered? Make your own assumptions..I have.

Why gay marriage should not be legalized ;)

Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control.
Heterosexual marriages are valid becasue they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can't legally get married because the world needs more children.
Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
Straight marriage will be less meaningful if Gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.
Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are property, blacks can't marry whites, and divorce is illegal.
Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.
Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire counrty. That's why we have only one religion in America.
Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
Children can never suceed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.
Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to things like cars or longer lifespans.
Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "seperate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Seperate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as seperate marriages for gays and lesbians will.
