Giving Back

Scratch that. Sorry.
Thanks for the so many inputs you all have given my quick reaction to a story that made my heart soar. As some of you well spoke, some things mean different things to others.
Stacey Hansen is a 35 year old fire fighter in California that had the opportunity to make a trip to Ho Chi Minh City, (I still hate that name) Vietnam. In a shop she saw a bunch of dog tags for sale. She bought them all and, upon returning home, made this web site as her way of "Giving Back" something to the many of soldiers that gave their hearts, soul, and lives in a place far, far away.

It made me remember losing my dog tags (taped together for non-noise) in a firefight in '66. They were reissued, of course, but it just wasn't the same. Soldiers are issued dog tags upon entry to the service and become part of their body. Probably thousands of dog tags were lost.

As I said, it may seem insignificant to some but she is a hero in my book.

Thanks for not flaming me too bad as I had a good part of it coming.
Again, sorry. And thanks.

Angry

I was sensitive. Granted. But I did not want thousands of responses.
One response to any post is as good as a thousand. It makes one feel validated in that the post was, at least, worth a mention.
Good day to all. Me? I'm under water down here in the southeast.

Darth, I think like many others here, I missed your post.

I have a thought for you, take it as you may.

Those who depend on the actions of others for their happiness (and satisfaction) are destined to be be unhappy (or unsatisfied).

I believe I do; I think it was about the woman buying up dogtags in Vietnam and sending them back to the soldiers, and, I wish that the post were still here!

That was an interesting link. I checked to see if my brother lost any tags that might have been found. I may pass the link on to him, but maybe not. He was a LRRP assigned to a Ranger regiment in the delta around 1968. Riverine Rangers, I think. He did go back for a visit a few years ago. A lot of people who were involved in the conflict are still troubled by it.

Darth seems a bit sensitive. I followed the link when it was originally posted and it did result in some contemplation but I didn't form any thoughts that I deemed were worthy of posting. I still don't think I had any worth posting, but post I did.

Right, I didn't have too much to say, but you can be damn sure that many of us regulars saw the thread and forwarded the message. I suggest adding it back into the first post, as it will be easier to find there than in Lisa's thread in the middle of the page.
