I've got a sound system with 60 watt left/right main speakers, a 120 watt 6" sub, and a 600 watt 12" sub, with game inputs. I know computers have a pre-out that the speakers connect to since PC speakers have built in amps.

How can i connect the pre-out to the game ports on the system? I have a 1/8" earphone to RCA adapter wire, but do i need to make a custom patch cable with resistors to match the voltage or wattage/amperage? Or will the pre-out be within the tolerances of the RCA jacks?

I contacted sony (the maker of my sound system), they said the RCA audio inputs are rated at a maximum of 450mv and 47Kilohms. what is the output of the audio out jack on a computer?

You should use the Line-Out from the card as it gives a non-powered signal

so the line-out should be well under 450 millivolts? I can just run a Y cable to split between the PC speakers and my system?

I connected my adapter cable, but sound only came out of the right side speaker. I switched sources back to TV, and the right speaker played. I switched it back to computer and slid the balancer to the left, and music cut out all together till i slid it back to the right or center. I'm checking in a minute to see if it does it with the PC speakers.

Both PC speakers work with the same song and volume/balance settings. Wierd. Adapter cable maybe?

HOW strange is this?

I switched my RCA cables around a bit, If i put either red or white in the white slot, only bass comes out of my subwoofer, but not the speaker. If i put either in the red jack, full range comes out (but on the right side only). I switched back to TV, and only the right worked on it too. I hope I didn't blow my speaker- i guess next guess is the wire terminals in back?

found it. stupid cat knocked the negative wire loose on my wire extensions.

That's funny.
I'm always catching a wire or two with my foot and too lazy to tie-wrap them up and out of the way. Wish I could blame it on a cat.;)
