Hi, I just got a linksys wireless-g router model WRT54G today and i am having trouble making my connection a wired connection instead of a wireless one. I have a speedstream 5200 modem with a dsl connection already and i connected it with the wireless router. I want a wired connection for my upstairs computer (the comp. connected with the wireless router and speedstream wired modem) because i am using the wireless router for the downstairs computer(comp. with wireless adapter). If anybody would help me with this it would be greatly appreciated :).

I have windows xp and service pack 2 installed.

Do you want to connect a PC to the computer that already has a wireless connection so you don't have to get another wireless adaptor?

No, I already have a wireless adapter for the downstairs computer but i want a wired connection upstairs by connecting the speedstream 5200 dsl modem to the linksys wireless router.

I am trying to get a wired connection because a wireless connection gives me a lot of lag spikes when playing online games.

There are a lot of ways to wire cable. Running it through walls, under carpet, and through cold air return ducts are the best ways I've found. You could try to fish it though ceilings and drill holes and such... but that is a lot of work.

I mean that i want to have a wired connection instead of a wireless connection on my gaming computer. The wireless router is upstairs and connected to my computer already. The wireless router is for the work computer downstairs and that computer has a usb adapter. I want to have a wireless connection for the computer downstairs and a wired connection for the gaming computer upstairs. Is there a way to do this in the configuring page or by connecting my dsl modem to my wireless router a different way?

They are connected this way - dsl modem -> wireless router -> computer.

Plug in a cable from your pc to the router ethernet port and restart your pc.
