I plugged a Win 2000 computer into a four port router that was plugged into a DSL modem but did not get the blue TV in the lower right corner and did not get on the network/internet.
What went wrong?

Did you configure the router properly for PPPoE?

I plugged three Win XP computers into the router and it works fine (neighbor actuall installed router).

Does the connection work?
If you just want to show the Connected Icon then you can enable it via Network properties
