Hoping someone can help with a fatal error. Recently installed Optimum Online broad band on a Dell 586 PC Windows 98. Running Zonealarm (free version) and NAV 2005. During a NAV scan, 12 "possible" spyware files were detected but could not be removed.
I downloaded the lastest NAV patches and reboot. Then the problem started - MS shortcut bar appeared on my desktop but the small icon tray (NAV, Zonealarm, speaker, clock, etc.) were gone. I had no mouse control. Cntl/Alt/Del to find the offending component - it was NETSURF. I tried to End Task, then got blue screen of death. Had to turn off the computer....2x.
Tried Safe Mode, ran a full NAV and it detected possible spyware in the Boot Sector but indicated no threat. Can only boot in safe mode. Everything else gives me blue screen. Any suggestions?
