Angry Here's a good one......or two.

res://C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCLC.DLL/navcancl.htm
I get this in the properties of some url page blocks that appear to be ads but page can not be found.
I have searched a lot but have not found the correct solution.
I've let this go on a long time because it wasn't doing anything that worried me.

Ok, I started running in circles again with the intent of finding it again.
Same solutions. Same results.
I run all the tools, spywareblaster, cwshredder, adaware, spybot, HJT, AVG7, all updated, to no avail.
Had the bright idea to do a fix on IE6 from the add/remove program.
Never had a prob before with this but it now pops up with msg:
Can not repair IE6. Under details: File missing..MSHTA.exe.
So I searched info on that file. Some say its an MS exe to open HTA files.
But then there are a lot that say this file is spyware, malicious, etc.
So it's looking for this file but am unable to d/l it from anywhere and don't really think I should anyway.

I shut down all apps but to no avail.
I had an earlier full backup dated 2/26/05 and same there so this has been on my system for quite some time.
I experience no other problems. In fact, IE is running better than ever.
I really don't want to reinstall IE6/Sp1 as I still have dialup but it may be only choice if you say so.

Just curious if anyone has seen this prob.
Thanks.

"Hey, man, I really feel for you but can't help. Sorry." "Hey, man, I really feel for you but can't help. Sorry."

That's why I now use W2K, NO! problems and is a lot more stable.

Even if I have to beg, thanks for the acknowledgments.

Deltree: Good idea but why change a good thing that's worked all these years? (Dr. Phil: How's that work'n for ya?")
I'm thinking about it though.....really I am.

jintan: Tried all the trojan references I could find and all to no avail. Even this one for naught.

I read a lot of places about the
res://C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCLC.DLL/navcancl.htm thingamajig.
Just thought someone would have some fresh ideas short of installing a new OS or buying a new system.
Dell has a system for $299. Gonna check that bait right now.

Fixed them both.
Thanks for everyones help and support. You are all team mates.
My next problems, if any, will be written on a piece of paper in front of me to work on, alone, at my leisure.

P.S. Thanks again for the effort, Jintan.
