looking to use the bluetooth capabilities of my laptop for printing as i have got enough cables to rival BT. Now it seems the only choice is have is to buy a usb adaptor thats fits in the back of the printer(called usb but smaller connector) with an power supply for it.

The printer i havebought is a cannon ip4000(very nice i must say for the $$$) and it has a normal usb on the front for pictbridge where you would connect a camera for example.

Now does any one no if you can use a normall usb bluetooth plug in this front slot rather than the other one with its external supply at the back.

Makes and info would be of great help.
cheers :(

Won't work... The small USB BT dongle is basically just a transmitter, it is the BT drivers on the PC that makes it work. I'm pretty sure the printer doesn't have the BT stack built in...

Your choices are get a BT adapter for the printer or a BT dongle for the PC and share the printer over the BT network. I've had mixed luck with doing that (Had it working, played around with bridging my networks and broke it and haven't been able to get it back :( )

PS.

Did a little looking and they have BT access points/print servers. It acts as a print server and a BT access point for your network. Its a little more that just the BT printer adapter, but if you have a few PCs it might be worth it.
