help with deleting files

when i try to delete a file i get a message that says "cannot delete file access is denied" the file is on my desktop and its an installer to a program.

i started downloading it in FireFox and i decided i didnt want to download it anymore so i cancelled the download and firefox deleted the temp file but didn't delete the installer.

So how can i get rid of the file? please help
