View Full Version : HP iPAC Pocket PC trouble...

hey i have an HP iPAC pocket pc and it worked no problem before but i had to reformat my laptop and it got rid of active sync 3.5 which i need. well i have the cd and everything and when i reinstalled it it says what ports are availible so i connect it to the usb port( its availible) and it reads it because i get the popup in the corner that says new hardware found. but the progran that is supposed to find the handheld doesnt find it so it doesnt connect. i have re installed and what not noumerous times...i was thinking maybe i have to reset my handheld but how do i do that....? anyhelp please and thank you
oh and my os is xp and it was before too if that is any help or u needed to know

Its been a while since I had to do this, but if I remember correctly don't you have to start configuring activesync and at some point during the configuration you connect your handheld. I don't have an ipac, but the process should be similar. You shouldn't have to reset the handheld, though when the sync does work you may have to reset the PC affilation. But, it should ask you about that.
When you connect up the handheld does activesync startup an see it? Do you have the activesync icon in the tool bar?

no when i connect active sync doesnt detect it, my hardware wizzard does tho, it comes up in the corrner saying new hardware detected...and whatnot and if i open the hardware wizzard and try to do it thru there it doesnt work...how do u just reset ur handheld...? because i dont have anything important on it ill just reconfigure it.

I don't think reseting the handheld will help, but there should be a small reset button on it somewhere (most likely either the side or bottom). It sounds like activesync needs to be either reinstalled or reconfigured. It should launch when the PC detects a handheld device being attached.
Have youo tried launching Activesync then attaching your handheld?

there is a little button i have to hit but it didnt reset the whole thing... i dunno i uninstalled it and re installed it but everytime its the same thing....i dunno its the same problem everytime...i just dont kno what to do here i can put some screen shots in of what i see if it would help any if u dont get exactly what my problem is....
