I wasn't aware that MSN checked for UPnP connections, how trite.

Anyway, few things you should look for. First, make sure UPnP is enabled on whatever internet gateway you have ICS computer or home router, etc. Next, check your network connections on your local computer and see if you have something called an "Internet Gateway".

This internet gateway on you local computer is what controls the upnp rules for the windows firewall. If you don't see it then somehow UPnP is disabled. If that is the case, I'll try to help you reinstall it (its part of the firewall). If it does exist, and you can open the rule. Clear out all of the saved rules and make sure the firewall is set to allow new connections for upnp.

Check all firewall settings for windows firewall and any other firwall you may have running to make sure messenger is allowed to both send and rec.

I don't use messenger so I can't be 100% here but if you have a router and are trying to send and rec files over whatever port messenger uses you would have to forward those ports in the router? I know it doesn't make sense if 3 other people on the network can do this but you can't. It would seem more like something on your computer is blocking it rather than in the router.
