New green icon "new message appeared"

A new round green icon appeared in the task bar saying "general message" I haven,t opened it as I don,t know where it came from are there any suggestions what I should do about it?

Right click it - what do you see (can you take a screenshot?)

Hi murphy right clicking only brings up the words New Message ,so there is nothing to screen shot except the flashing green symbol

I was hoping the screenshot may provide a recognisable clue for someone other than your "green icon" description.
