I have a problem with my monitor in that I can't change the colors from blue, yellow and black. As a result of that, everything I see is in varying shades of blue yellow black. No red, orange, green, purple, pink, it's driving me nuts!

The monitor resolution: 800x600
Color: True Color 32 bit
Monitor: Dell D1028L

The driver date for the monitor is 1999, could that be the problem? Oh and there are no color profiles associated with the monitor either. I've tried changing the Gamma Correction, but that just changes the black, blue and yellow colors to lighter or darker. How can I change the black color to red (which I think it's supposed to be)?

sounds like your monitor is going bad. I lost the red in mine and had to replace it. However, it gave me a good excuse for a lcd monitor. If you tried the monitor on another computer and there is still a color problem, IMO, it is time for a new monitor.

This can also be a symptom of a bent/broken pin on the VGA plug (that connects the monitor to the Video card) or a damaged cord (e.g. if monitor has been sitting on VGA cable it can cut through a wire).

Otherwise, yep, it's likely the red phosphor gun has gone south and it's time for a monitor funeral.

Thank you very much for your suggestions, it's too bad that I can't just install a new driver or something, oh well,

Guess what I fixed my monitor! (Does happy dance)
I went on Dell's website to look up driver downloads and I found their troubleshooting guide for the D1000 series and they had a problem listed that was similar to mine, and they said to degauss the monitor and I didn't know how to do that, but then I found it in the on screen menu (the little buttons on the monitor bring it up) and I selected it and the monitor gave this noise and the screen went black and then I saw in colour!
Believe me, it's so nice to see in red, pink, purple, green, orange, u can't believe how much I missed that. Hopefully this post will help someone else with the same problem.
