I am trying to uninstall a program from my wife's computer, but the Add/Remove Programs will not open. This system is running Windows 2000 SP 4, IE 6. I really don't know a whole lot about Windows, so I could really use a clue, here. Thanks!

Hi b1rddOg,

Here (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329862) are the instructions from MS for a fix.

Please post back and let us know how you made out.

Good luck.

Tom

Following the Instructions on the Microsoft website did resolve my problem. I had tried several things yesterday (regsvr32 <various dlls>), searching for stuff in the registry that would prevent uninstall, etc. I also did the scf.exe commands that this topic explained. I was uncertain what to expect when I ran scf.exe, so I was less than enthused when they ran to completion (after about 10 minutes, or so) and exited without providing any information--perhaps that is a good thing--I just don't know. Anyways, I could not perform an onsite W2K upgrade, because my computer came only with a Recovery CD, not the W2K Setup CD. So that left me with the only remaining step of reinstalling IE 6.0. To my great relief, reinstalling IE 6.0 did fix my problem, and I can now uninstall programs, once more. Thanks!
