View Full Version : Mouse freezes after hibernation

Hi, I'm new here. I have a Toshiba notebook running Windows 98 (yes I KNOW I should upgrade!). When waking up from hibernation the serial (PS/2) mouse stops working. I was advised to upgrade the mouse driver to the latest version from Logitech, but when I installed it the mouse wouldn't respond at all! I guess it's just not compatible with Win 98.

Any ideas how I can overcome this mouse freeze problem?:(

Hey DavidAmp,

Have you tried a different mouse?

Yes I tried a wireless mouse (A4 Tech). But the result was the same: it never woke up from hibernation.

Hi DavidAmp,

Always best to try the simplest resolve first. Here (http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winme/1101917966) is a suggestion. I couldn't find the Logitech page it references, but it addresses power management issues so it applies in your situation. Suggest you back up your registry before making any Regedit changes.

Please post back with your results.

Thanks Jintan, but I already found that tip and tried it, but it didn't work. I have searched the web, including Microsoft's help pages, where that tip originally came from. The problem has been discussed on a number of tech help web sites, it seems I'm by no means alone. So far no one has come up with a solution. Thanks anyway.
