Hi all,
I just installed my NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000 video card but now when I try to plug in my sound card I get a message saying that another device is conflicting with my video adapter.
I have tried all 3 of the other available slots and get the message everytime.
Don't know if this makes a difference or not but I just plugged in the card and do not have the driver downloaded.
Any suggestions??
Thanks,
Kenny

You have to install drivers. They will determine what IRQ and Address to use.
You also may need to upgrade your DirectX if not already at least 9b.:michaelan

I am getting my driver from driverguide.com because a buddy gave this card to me without the CD, now will it make a difference where I save the file to?
I am going to try and put a new folder on my desktop and name it "Sound Card" so I will know just where everything is at, will Windows still see the driver in that folder? if not where should I save the file at?

Unless it's a self installing driver, you can put it anywhere and then have windows point to the proper location such as windows\desktop, etc.

Thank you so very much Darth for your help on this, I finally found the right driver for it and now my sound card works but..... I am still getting the message that it is conflicting with my video adapter.
I was getting that when I was first installed the video card and it was the onboard audio so I moved the jumper over to disable it.
What can I do now so both will work? I have read somewhere about changing the IRQ's in BIOS, is this possible? and if it is, what do I change it to?
Thank you so much for your help. :)

Now that your drivers are installed successfully, try moving it to another pci slot again. I think a slot uses the same irq.
Also bring up programs/accessories/system tools/system information.
Now open Hardware Resources and click IRQ's. Video is usually 10 and sound 5.
See what it says.
Now while on same open system information screen, click tools, then Dr. Watson. This will put an icon in your task tray. Click it on to see it it has a clue.
Good luck.:michaelan
