Can Windows 98 Read Files From a Win XP HD?

I have an emachines computer running Windows 98. I want to transfer some files over from my Windows XP computer's hard drive but the Windows 98 system isn't reading the hard drive. Is there a program I can download to be able to do this or is there something I'm doing wrong? Similarly, could it be because I'm using an emachines version of Windows 98? Thanks for any help,

Howdy:

If the XP machine is formatted NTFS then no FAT formatted system will read it..

However, the XP system should have no problems reading the Win98 system..
