Missing Startup Lines on Boot

I have the Windows welcome screen disabled so that I can see the command lines show as they load on bootup.

While trying to eliminate unnecessary lines in the startup commands in Win98SE, I inadvertently deleted a couple of lines that now give the error messages:

Missing Line 9 in the config.sys file – can be found on C:\MTM\MTM CDAI.sys

And

Missing Line 13, can be found on C:\CDROM\CD tech.sys

This occurred when trying to remove the ATAPI CD ROM at bootup. The lines were marked “rem” anyway, but I was trying to clean it all up.

I had gone into the folder named MTM and deleted it to try to eliminate them, maybe the wrong way to do it, but…?

I’m still a little afraid to mess with the registry, config.sys, and the autoexec.bat files, etc. – but maybe I have mistakenly done just that. Dunno.

The CD burner still seems to read ok, but the missing lines are a problem, yes? No?

What have I done, and how can I fix this??

Thanks for your help.

I think you just have to re-write those 2 files and take out where they look for the devices you removed from bootup.......

So edit line 13 out and line 9 since they arent wanted on bootup anymore (I think this is all you do)

Im not sure, but seeing as you deleted some things and now those 2 report missing, just editing them out of the config.sys files and what not might be all you need to do.....

Good Luck!!
