I just got a notebook from a friend that the O/S was erased. I put windows 2000 on, but it now will not recognize the modem or the audio. The notebook is a M305CRV from gateway, which came with XP H.E. I would rather put the XP on the labtop instead of the win2000, but do not have a copy of XP. I just need any suggestions to get this notebook up running like new. By the way, I know very little on reprogamming a computer from scratch.

This page from Gateway (<----clicky) has the driver downloads for both the modem and sound. Same drivers for both WinXP and Win2K, apparently. That oughta do it!

Hello twin2, welcome to Cyber Tech Help forums.
I've moved your post into the Windows 2000 forum. From your post I gather you have successfully installed Windows 2000 but you now have 2 pieces of hardware that are not functioning. The modem and sound. Please go to this page and follow the links to the downloads area and get: 9523159.exe - Gateway 450RGH, 450ROG, 400VTX and M305CRV Modem driver, version 3.6.8.0 Supports: Windows XP, Windows 2000 Note: This is the GTW V.92 Voice Modem driver for the Gateway 400VTX, 450RGH, M305CRV, and 450ROG notebook computers in Windows XP or Windows 2000. 9520360.exe - Gateway 400VTX and M305CRV Sound driver, version 5.10.0.3722 Supports: Windows XP, Windows 2000 Run both of those and report back.
