Hello all
I have a similar problem to what I had in this thread http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/...ad.php?t=35775 I need to merge 50 excel files but there is no insert file like there is in word. I am using Excel XP Can anyone one tell me how I can merge 50 excel file (all with same columns) all together quickly? Thanks Richard |

Richard, I was sure I had a VBa project that did that once but damned if I can find it now.
Filenames all had to be sequentially numbered. Looped through each file number, opened file, copied used range, moved to "amalgamation" workbook, found next empty row, pasted values, moved back to opened file, closed without saving, next file etc etc.

Hi Smurfy
Thanks for the help. I knew it was possible in vba but I just havent written anything. I just thought it would take a while to write and if there had been an easier way of doing it then that would be good. I have had another thought which could be to save the excel files as cvs files. Then merge them in Word. Then save in word as CVS and then open in Excel. I think this should work so it might be a way around it but it might be just as time consuming Thanks again Richard Last edited by RichardJones; June 20th, 2005 at 09:15 PM. |

Good thinking, although you may not need to export all to CSV first, just open the .xls files using word, merge them and then save as CSV.
Then iopen up in Excel and tidy up.

Hi
I have written an excel merger (for excel xp). It does a similar function to the merge files option in word. It can be downloaded here I have looked on the net and there seem to be quite a few people with similar problems. Smurfy, AnnMarie, Mishy (ie moderators) if you want to add it to your downloads section here feel free. Richard Last edited by RichardJones; September 10th, 2005 at 11:31 AM. |

Thanks for the excelmerger files u contributed, it really works well and very helpful for me. But, I'm just wondering how to display all the merged files from left to right (vertically) instead of from top to bottom (horizontally). I tried my level best to do so on my own but, unsuccesful since Im still very new to this excel and macro things. Really hoping u could help me in this matter. Thanks in advance. |
