Alright, I just formated and installed Windows 2000 pro. The instalation went fine, but when I startup windows, the blue bars show it's done loading, but it does not show the desktop. I know it is logged in because I can hear the little windows song on my speakers a few seconds after the blue bars freeze. I can also press the windows key and hit up and enter twice and it restarts my comp, so it is actually started up, I just can't see anything. I can access my computer in VGA mode and safe mode but not normall mode. I installed the drivers for my video card in VGA but still, no dice. Could I please get some help. Thanks very much.

Did you remove the display adapter in windows hardware manager? Try that and see if that sorts the problem out. Just right click and select uninstall or remove, reboot the computer. Windows will reload the standard driver after it reboots.

You might have to reinstall win2k, since the installation may be corrupt.

I have the same issue, I cannot see my desktop. I start up my computer, everything seems fine exept no desktop. To access anything I need to go to the tast manager by using the alt, ctrl, del method. I looked at your answer "remove the display adapter in windows hardware manager? Try that and see if that sorts the problem out. Just right click and select uninstall or remove, reboot the computer. Windows will reload the standard driver after it reboots" but do not understand what I should uninstall, or where to find it. Please Help, Thanks
