What a wonderful spectacle those self serving pillocks at Ferrari put on for us this weekend. How unusual for JEan Todt to put personal gain before looking at the bigger picture.

Jordan haven't exactly covered themselves in glory either.

You talking about cricket or curling or one of those Euro-type sports?

My guess is it's about this "farce" of a race...

SCHUMACHER TAKES JOYLESS VICTORY IN INDY FARCE (http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=33189)
The 2005 United States Grand Prix was an unforgettable moment in Formula 1 history – but it will be remembered as perhaps the most bizarre, farcical, and hollow race that the sport has ever endured.

more... All you can do is shake your head and wait for a rule change that will be based on common sense.

but I know your only pretending to be a redkneck, Formula One of course.
the pathetic debacle held at the Brickyard today.

In a nutshell-
3 teams use bridgestone tyres
7 use Michellin

This year the rules mean teams have to use one set of tyres for qual and the race, so the race isn't 3 short sprints on fresh tyres, but a long term trade off of super-grip vs durability.

the Bridgestone teams knew all about the new diamond cuts on the track, meaning better grip for the Indy500, but significantly increasing tyre abbrasion. goodyear passed a load of tech data on to them from the Indy500.

Michellin were caught unaware, and suffered several catastrophic failures during practice and qualifying. They requested EITHER being allowed to change ALL the tyres for 7 teams, letting all the Bridgestone teams automatically go to the front of the grid OR put in a chicane just before they rejoin the full Indy track, thereby reducing the entry speed to the 9degree banking by about 100 miles an hour (the failures were occuring on the left rear as they were hitting the banking).
F1 cars have approximately twice the downforce of indy cars, so this is quite an issue aat 160plus mph.

To change anything on the fly like this, all 10 teams must agree. Ferrari (as usual) refused to go along. This meant the 7 Mich teams were running with a tyre that the manufacturers would not verify as safe, hence the pathetic spectacle of only the 3 Bridgestone shod teams running, Ferrari, Jordan and Minardi - 6 cars in total.

This really made it look unlikely that F1 will be back next year in Indianapolis, which is a great shame.

Not surprisingly, a lot of fans who had spent a lot of money on tickets, travel and accomodation were really pissed about it.

I originally meant to post my first entry on an F1 forum I frequent. Whoops.

Goes all the way back to the 60's when Ford was beating them in LeMans, etc. Sorry to say but Ferrari has been poor losers historically.

It was pathetic,
I've never liked Shumacher [or,the cobbler, as I call him], he's been overated for years. He's a competent driver but almost any of the other F1 drivers would've won the same races he has with his car.
I don't suppose I could pin this on him tho'.........or could I ?:naughty:

NB.this is an opinion of mine, not necessarily fact.[tho' I reckon it is] :)

Sorry but I disagree, Bridgestone can make a F1 tyre that copes with the track, Michelin don't do their homework properly and CAN'T and everyone blames Bridgestone/Ferarri? Sorry, it's not their fault. Why should they agree to slow everyone down just because the other teams tyre supplier screwed up.

I watched that race.

The commentating talked a lot about "who doesn't like who" and "a guy everybody likes" and
a bunch of other soap opera stuff like that. I think Formula 1 ppl are too full of themselves.

I prefer NASCAR. It's more down-to-Earth and they just commentate the race.
