We have a wireless internet connection from our next door neighbor. We have in our house two computers connected by a ethernet crossover cable. One of our computers can access the wireless through it card, the other has a modem(because my dad is paranoid about our neighbors spying on him while he does financiel stuff.) About a week ago I made the crossover cable set up a full network between the two computers, and instantly they were both able to access the wireless internet. 3 days later the network stopped working for sharing the internet connection. Both are using Windows XP with the native firewall, ZoneAlarm, and Norton AntiVirus

So I wanted to know if there is a way to get the network back up sharing the wireless. Is it something with the IPs, subnet, and default gateway numbers? Or is it more with my firewalls.

Do the good folks next door know you are leeching internet access from them? Most ISP's do not allow house to house sharing of internet services and its not really legal to use a wi-fi signal you don't pay for unless offered for free by the owner. I only ask because we can't be 100% sure of things these days and if we help out in stealing internet service that violates our TOS. Its the same thing as helping a person bypass a windows login. Even if they do own the computer and it would be helping them we can't be sure they really do own the computer.
