Hi

I have got an IBM x40 and that uses both wired and wireless network connections sucessfully.
However in task manager it seems to be using the wireless first and then the wired for network connectivity - and I cant seem to change the order -

I have set in IBM connections to set the order by prority - it doesnt work
also in control panel and networks Advanced Settings - I have changed the order from to Lan then Wireless and it still doesnt work.

I dont want to disable/enable settings as a work around.

Any idea's

Hey horsey - welcome to CTH !!

I'm having a little trouble follow your post. Can you clear a few things up and we can take it from there?

When you say you see it using the wireless first in the task manager, how are you doing that? Are you looking at the traffic on each connection in the network panel?

What version of windows are you running?I have set in IBM connections to set the order by prority - it doesnt work Don't know anything about this, but took a quick look around. Not much available from IBM on it. I did run across references to function-f5, it seemed to be related to changing connection choices. Have you tried that and see what options it provides?

Some one here recommended a freeware product that sounds similar to IBM connections in some ways. I'll look around and try to find it.

I too am a bit unclear here but I believe what z1p is takling about is this app:

NetSetMan is a network settings manager which can easily switch between 5 different, visually structured profiles. The app and more info can be found HERE (http://www.itecnix.com/show.php?pg=./software/netsetman/netsetman.php) Gotta give credit to degsy for that find. I don't think it will however let you pick an order of interface to use. It will let you setup different addressing for the one interface. As far as if your wi-fi connectes before your wired card well thats another thing.
