Hello there friends of cybertech...long time no talky but thanks for the auto birthday greeting anyway! Here's not huge, but slightly irritating problem...I had to buy a new mouse to replace my old A4Tech two button mouse which was causing erratic window behaviour! I put the new (but definitely inexpensive) ValGear "scroll wheel 3 button" mouse in, which is PS/2 compatible and the computer would not recognize it. HOWEVER, upon hitting the computer's reset button, it starts up again and only then will it recognize it and everything is fine again! There doesn't appear to be any "driver" information for this unit or installation information? Anyone with a suggestion out there? Or should I buy a different mouse? I have a lowly old Pentium 2 with windows 2k.

Just to be clear here the mouse does work or doesn't work? Also you said this is a ps2 mouse not usb right? If you can get into device manager does it show up in there at all? Did you get a floppy or cd when you got the net mouse?

The mouse does eventually work BUT, here's how it goes. I start up the computer...everything boots up, EXCEPT, there is NO mouse icon! Then I hit the reset button, the computer reboots...and VOILA!...the mouse is now there! It is a PS/2 mouse, with a PS/2 connection NOT a usb connection and there was NO floppy disc or cd rom with this inexpensive unit. It is exactly the same as my old mouse, except for the fact that the new one has a tracking wheel. My old mouse incidentley is immediately recognized by the computer upon start up. Like I say, it's not a huge problem because I can eventually get the darn thing to work, but only after I hit the reset button!! Weird huh? I can't seem to see anything in the device manager that would help either.

Did you uninstall your old mouse... drivers and everything?

NO, actually, I did not uninstall anything...how would that be done...I only had a simple 2 button mouse before this one. Is it just a matter of going into the mouse hardware file and telling it to uninstall?

Can't honestly say with your OS... but I think that is the problem.
