My PC is soooooooooooooooo sloooooooooooooooo.
On CTH I had seen an acceleratror link but I can't find it now.
Any suggestions?
the problem does not appear to be a virus. Although I am concerned about
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{CF97C16D-67D0-499D-9365-719D812F2498}: NameServer = 151.164.67.201 151.164.1.8
017 is a hijacked domain.

Those two ip's are name servers for swbell I would expect that is your isp? When you say that the computer is slow do you mean in internet speed "viewing webpages or downloading". Or do you mean it takes a long time to load and run programs or hang when you try to do to many things at once?

It is so slow opening links, opening websites, viewing web pages.

You are on dialup yes? If so then the most you can expect is 56k speeds. Some ISP's offer "faster dialup" but this is done using cache servers and highly compressed graphics but trust me the speeds are still 56k if you are lucky. If you haven't yet seen what a broadband connection can do I advise taking a look. If boradband "cable, dsl" is offered in your area and you can afford a package I'd take it. The more the net grows and changes the more graphics and complex web design becomes you will one day "have" to get boradband or get left behind. I know its sad but its also true that the days of dialup are coming to an end.

bAdWaYz, Yes and depending on the phone lines my 56k connection is actually at 45 and sometimes lower. :(

I know how you feel buddy, back in my first days of computer useage I had a 14.4k modem and it took a loooong time to do much of anything once the net became more graphic in use. Back in tha day a 14.4 was fine because the net was largely text based and dull but now with all this awesome content most dialup users haven't seen half the internet yet.

philis in regards to your slow net, ring telstra and ask for a line check (they do some test check sync and stuff like that, they will also check the cleaness of your line - if your line is dirty or damaged then you will get slower speeds no matter what you do, also ask them if you are on pair gain, or Cmux, if this is the case then you will also get slower speeds no matter what you do. under the new law that the gov past you now must be able to get adsl no matter where you live or how bad the lines are etc etc, with in 6 months of you asking someone for it. so when you speak to who ever at telstra ask them about that too. make sure you take their name and if possible there charile number !! that is a must its a number that telstra give each person, so if you can get it write it down so when you speak with some one again they can pin point who gave you what information at what times :))

another question are you using an internal or external modem ? sometime if you have a slower cpu while using an internal modem it will slow everything down, try getting an external modem, as they have their own cpus (sorta :P) and put less strain on your own cpu.

Also check your drive for fragmented files, if it advises you to, run a defrag as this may help if the slow down isnt caused by any other specific process. Even while browsing the net, temporary files created in the background tend to get heavily fragmented.
