My friend has an Insignia D300 and she cannot load any USB or network adapter drivers in her computer. What might be causing this problem? How can we install the drivers in the computer?

Hi N3FOL and welcome to CTH,

Sorry, about all the questions, but its hard to come up with a solution without understanding the problem and what has been done to the system.

What exactly is your friend trying to do? The drivers should have come installed already. Did you friend have to reinstall th OS? If so why?

What exactly won't work for her? I take it she is having a problem with her network connection? What isn't working and what error does she get?

One more question for now. What version of windows is she running XP Home,XP Pro, 98se?

I believe her system was on XP. Now, her system is running W2K Pro. When I look under 'Device Manager', the Network and USB drivers indicate that they are not installed. I tried to install drivers that I got from the internet for her system (Insignia D300) and USB drivers for her Linksys USB adapter and an .INF error comes up. As a result, the driver cannot be installed in the system as indicated by the comp.

What would be the next step in order for the driver to be installed? The computer is just not taking it. Thank you in advance.

OK. let's see. Let's start with just the network adaptor first, get it working and continue on. What is the make and model of the network adaptor? Did you try using a driver that came with with the win2k? What is the exact error msg?
