Router
I have a Linksys wireless-G router, I just installed it to replace an ancient hub that went 10 mb/s Well now that its on I keep getting complaints that everything is slower I notice too, but this is much better then a old hub for speed...right? like 100mb/s?
Anyway one other question, I noticed the router has setting that says enable/disable firewall protection, I have it checked. If it is checked would I still need to be running a personal firewall and iptables? Hmm, this is the last one actually, I just remembered the connection seems to drop from the modem to the router sometimes, and I have to turn off all the power to both for a connection again. anyone know why?

I seem to have lost my mem these days in my old age. If you could go over what sort of connection you have again dsl or cable? Also give the mod number and ver number of the router you have now.

The brand/model # of the router would still be helpful as far as the firewall goes. But in general, running both the router firewall and a software firewall is overkill and will often cause conflicts if both aren't configured correctly. In most cases the router firewall would be the better option, especially if the software firewall is Norton Internet Security.
