Workgroup / Printer Sharing/System Policies Warning
Hello and thanks for viewing this message.
I've been trying to add a laptop to my HOST computer workgroup (mine) it can share my printer (connected directly to Host). Laptops uses PC wireless card and Linksys router and has recognizing my computer through emails, etc., and has been fine for years doing that. Now we want to share our new HP printer which has that capability. I set up the workgroup on the HOST desktop and need to connect the laptop to the workgroup as you MUST do for all the computers you are adding ot the group. HP and I have everything set correctly to share the printer but CANNOT until the laptop ties into the WORKGROUP and is recognized. Laptop has Windows 98 updgraded to Windows Millennium and used the Home Networking Wizard to begin and edit the workgroup connection ....however at the VERY end a warning box pops up: SYSTEM POLICIES DO NO NOT ALLOW ADDING THE SELECTED DEVICE. I've exhausted myself trying to find out how to disengage or "uncheck" this somehwere on the the user or policy setting. Laptop is operating on Windows 98 and has been UPGRADED to Windows Millennium. Has anyone ever come up against this before and please advise how to solve. Many thanks, Deerface26 |
