I was wondering if there is a way to split the connection from my modem so two computers are directly connecting

also i was wondering if a wireless router can work off a wired router

basically what i want to do withouth getting rid of my wireless router is run my wireless router to another router then run that router to the modem
will it work?

i have a NETGEAR WGT624 wireless 4-port router

Sorry adverse but I'm not sure what you are asking here. I think what you are saying is that you would like two computers to be able to connect to the modem directly. They way you make it sound here "basically what i want to do withouth getting rid of my wireless router is run my wireless router to another router then run that router to the modem will it work?" The layout would look like:

modem---wired router---wi-fi router---computers

My question is why would you want to do that? Linking two routers in a network isn't the ideal layout and maybe if you tell us what you are trying to do we can give advice on how to without making the network unstable.

im having problems with connecting with friends of mine through games so i want to put my xbox to the wired router and have my computers on the wireless router.
my xboxes are not connecting right when plugged into the wireless router
i have turning off firewalls and opening ports but it doesn't help much

Why not just use cat5 and plug the xbox into say port 1 in the wi-fi router and let the computers access it wirelessly? How does the xbox normally connect via a wireless bridge or just plugged into the router? You shouldn't have much of a problem connecting with it using the wi-fi router if its plugged into the router with cat5 its already a "wired" connection.

Are you sure you have all the ports open or forwarded in the router that you would need for your XBOX to connect with other computers while online?

Well truth be told there is no reason why your xbox should have any trouble just because the router is wireless. The fact that you plug the xbox into the router means its a wired connection any way. So if you have the correct ports forwarded when is the last time you have updated the firmware for the router? Also can you post what make and mod number and ver number the router is. I'm not questioning that you are having an issue just trying to work out why you are.
