Hi, I have an old machine (ME) and a newer computer (http://server4.103092804.com/Release3/linkredirect.php?h=42446,232732,1120180212) (XP). I would like to transfer some audio (http://server4.103092804.com/Release3/linkredirect.php?h=40722,232732,1120180212) files I have from ME that we made to XP.

Here's the catch. When I try to fire up the ME it just does these beeps. Like 1 second beeps with one second in between beeps. It hasn't exactly been in the best environment for a computer (http://server4.103092804.com/Release3/linkredirect.php?h=42446,232732,1120180212) so that probably does have something to do with it.

How can I make this work?

I did post this in another thread that someone was nice enough to help (http://server4.103092804.com/Release3/linkredirect.php?h=40282,232732,1120180212) me with but I can't see bothering him anymore. If you agree with what he told me to do could someone please explain it a little easier for a stupid idiot moron to understand. No really I can do this, just need an little coaching maybe or directions to a tutorial.

This is what he said:
OK, the easiest way to do the move is as follows, this avoids any jumpering and compatibility issues between hard disks:

Remove the hard disk from the ME machine.
Open up the XP case.
Unplug the device(s) on the secondary IDE channel, typically your CD/DVD drive.
Plug that cable into the old drive on the end connector. Attach the power, and fire up the XP system.
Copy (http://server4.103092804.com/Release3/linkredirect.php?h=42073,232732,1120180175) the files you want off the old drive.
Power down, remove the drive, and reconnect the cables removed from the CD/DVD.
Thanks in advance!

Yes you can transfer files/folders by making that old drive a "slave" drive. You can use the secondary IDE cable or the primary either way. You will still however need to make sure the jumpers on the old drive are set to slave or cable select. If you use the secondary you wouldn't need to worry about that unless you have more than one rom drive. I don't know what this has to do with networking however.
