Ftp

A while ago I followed a tutorial to allow me to connect my pc to my ps2 to via ftp. I ran fxp (i think, some ftp program anyways) on my pc and execftps on my ps2.

This allowed me to see the contents of my ps2 harddrive adn memory cards on my pc. I could also copy and delete things etc.No internet connection was involved

Is this possible with 2 pc's?
I can't create a network but thats a long story - can i just connect the 2 in this way via ftp??

Sorta but this is a misnomer really. Two computers both running some soft of ftp server would be fine. As long as both pc's are online at the same time you could ftp into either from the other....hehe that sounds funny but its like this. Say you run an ftp server on a computer called "Disco" and its connected to the internet. Now lets say you are on a computer in the same house or someplace else away from home called "Boogie". Well you could ftp into "Disco" from "Boogie" and get files del stuff and upload stuff depending on how you have the ftp server setup. If you have an ftp server running on "Boogie" you could do the same thing from "Disco". FTP works with server and client ends. The server end is what serves up files/folders and the client end is what lets you login to the ftp server. This as you say isn't really networking its a direct connection between computers over the internet. If you do setup ftp on both computers you may have to change some settings in the firewalls to allow ftp connections. I hope this helps a bit or at least points you in the right direction. Post back if you have any questions or comments.
