I'm looking for a free product that can wipe my old computer clean. I've heard of them, but I'm not sure what they are called or where to download them. So, since I don't know what it is called, I'm asking in the "Anything Else" forum. :) Basically, a program that turns an old computer full of files and pictures and useless garbage from the over years into what it was when the computer was taken out of the box. To restore it to its original state.

I've transferred a couple semi-important documents from my old computer into my new one, and after much searching, I know there is nothing else worth saving. I want to start to fresh. By the way, the computer is a Compaq Presario with a Windows ME operating system.

Thanks in advance. You folks have always been very helpful.

No. Looking at that program, it looks like something used to overwrite specific data for security purposes. I want to revert my computer to its original state. Not plug up a few leaks.

The app sho-dan mentioned is very useful, but to do what you want you need the Windows ME disk, perhaps a few drivers, and a read through our tutorials section on how to fdisk, format, and install Windows (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/html/tutorials/index.php). That'll put the PC back to how it was when you first bought it.
