Hi guys and gals.

I seek some of your support and assistance..

I have 3 WinXP Computers setup in my house 2 cat 5 cabled 1 wireless all with networking and internet access privilidges all working a treat through my netgear 4 port wireless router. (When in use 3 green lights show on router telling me 100mb access)

Now to the problem.

I fell heir to an old laptop (P120 Seimens Mobile 500) Maximum OS I can install is Win98 (first release not SE ) This laptop has a PCMCIA Xircom network card fitted and when I cable it up to the router I see an Orange light telling me it is connecting at 10mb access which I expected. I ran The XP network set up disk and have tried many of the hints scattered around the forums to no avail.
The Laptop has the same workgroup (Mshome) as the other systems, I have tried assigning an IP address in the relevant range or allowing it to autodetect but all I get is the Laptop showing in the network neighbourhood but no connections to the other computers or the internet.

Now getting to the stage I am repeating things I've done and not sure I am improving the situation.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Steve

Hi ...

Thanks to all those that read the previous message but didn't have anything to add - thats more appreciated than getting a load of conflicting information.

I have solved the problem by replacing the PCMCIA network card with another one. It would appear all my settings were correct, and that the network card although looking to be set up properly has some sort of internal fault.

Replacement card worked first time.

Have a good day all.. hope all your problems prove as easy as mine to fix.
