Hi syst3matik,
Before telling how to go about transferring the files, I need to understand your setup a bit. Are both PCs on a network already (connected to a router, etc)? If not do they both have a network card in them? What versions of windows is each PC running?
There's 2 steps to setting up so that you can move the files over. The first is getting them up on a network (usually TCP/IP), the 2nd is either setting up windows file sharing or some other method to xfer files such as FTP. If both machines are sharing an internet connection, then step one is really done.
Answer back and we can continue from there to get you setup.

Both computers are windows xp
I am going to run a dsl cable from my computer to hers because she is on wireless for the router and running the cord will be so much faster. I dont know where to go or what to do next :(!!

OK. Actually, connecting may not be any easier. But, we can try that route. First, do both machine have network cards (wired)? Next, you will need cat 5 CROSSOVER cable long enough to reach from one machine to the other.
BTW, is your PC connected to the router already?

Yes we both have network cards. We have a Linksts wireless 2.4 gig router. I am direct into the router, she is wireless because her compy is downstairs. I was going to move her computer up here then take the cord that is connected into the router and plug it into hers.

Hi syst3matik,
The final call is yours, but you should be able to network the 2 PCs just as easily (if not easier) going through router. Also, the cable from your PC to the router will most likely not work to connect to your mother's PC. The cable to the router is most likely a patch cable and to connect 2 PCs together you need to use a crossover cable.
If both Pcs are up and running through the router you have step #1 complete all you need to do is setup the mechanism to transfer the files (shares, ftp,...). If this is something that you won't be doing all the time FTP may prove easier. XP has a builtin FTP client and it also comes with an FTP server (though it isn't installed by default). If you have the XP disk and your mother doesn't mind you can install the ftp server and move the files over.
If sharing disks between the 2 PCs you'd like to have setup, we can do that too.
