IP Conflict???? HELP ME!!!
Hi there,
I'm brand new to this forum so I'd like to start by saying hello to everyone! Down to business. I have 2 servers each with 4 computers linked to them. Server 1 has 3 wired links and 1 wireless link to its computers using a netgear wireless router as the hub. Server 2 is linked by ethernet RJ45 cable to all of its computers using a dlink as a hub. Both networks work perfectly. All I want to do is join server 1 to server 2 so that all 8 computers can talk to eachother. I simply run a cable from server 2 hub to server 1 hub and then on server 1, I can see all 8 computers on the network places - great! However, all the computers on server 2 then come up with a message "IP ADDRESS CONFLICT" and they are not then able to access the server. What have I done wrong? Please help!! Much appreciated. I hope I have been descriptive enough. Elliott

You could run all the computers you can into the router but skip the uplink port and plug a switch into it with as many ports as you need for the rest of the computers. That should let all the computers see each other without ip conflicts. If the router is handing out ip's via dhcp then make sure that dhcp isn't set to a low number of computers like 8 set it to 20 or more.
